Shop Handmade Skimboards
Welcome to the OXS shop. Every board here is handmade by me in Opua, Bay of Islands. Whether you’re just finding out about skimboarding or know every grain of sand at the beach, there’s a board for where you’re at — and the next one for where you’re heading.
Starting out: a Gromlin for long, shallow runs, or a Slipeezy for tidal pools and rails. Heading deeper: an e-glass wave board. Pushing it: Carbon and Carbon 150. Nothing in your spec? Send me your custom specs.

Our storyBefore you buy
What board do I need?
It depends on your beach, skill and budget. Tidal pools or rails: a Slipeezy. Flat shoreline / first board: a Gromlin (best value) or an e-glass wave board. Shorebreak: your chosen wave model in the right size. Or take the 2-minute Board Finder.
When should I upgrade?
While you’re learning, sizing matters more than model. Once you’re heading deeper than the shallows, an e-glass wave board in the right size is the next step. When you’re wanting more from your board in the waves, carbon is worth the extra spend. Ask me and I’ll set you up for your size, skill and style.
What’s the difference between E-glass and carbon?
E-glass is a great place to start in the waves. Carbon and Carbon 150 are for the more advanced rider and worth the extra spend. Every board is handmade from the highest grade materials either way. I’ve explained more in “What Makes Carbon So Good For Skimboards?” on the Media page.
Do boards come with traction?
Gromlins and Slipeezy come pre-padded. For wave boards, add a Sticky Johnson pad combo from the traction section.
Why is the same board listed more than once?
That’s on purpose: each colour has its own listing, so you can pick exactly the one you want.
Is there a deal if I buy 2 boards?
Yes, 10% off when you buy 2 boards. Message us for details.
Where in the world do you ship to?
Everywhere, across New Zealand, Australia and worldwide. If import costs apply in your country, we’ll work with you on them.
What if my board gets damaged in transit?
Boards go out in cardboard packaging with several couriers. If anything happens in transit, you’re covered 100% and we handle the claim.
What’s your warranty?
No formal warranty. If a board has a genuine defect, we simply replace it. Damage from hitting rocks isn’t a defect.
Still not sure? Every board has a clear description of what and who it’s designed for — or ask Sam. You can also take the 2-minute Board Finder.
